ABOUT ME:
My name is Gogo Melone, born in Greece on July 17, 1985. I’m nameable to the people as a female singer of the Greek Death / Gothic Metal band LUNA OBSCURA but also I’m working as a digital artist / illustrator since 2007, having my own art studio business “Mel Design”. I always love art as a watcher but I never thought that could be possible to involve with it. I’ve study computer technician and graphics in a local school (2000-2003) and made lessons in digital art and photography (2006-2007). I can’t consider myself photographer, definitely not I’m doing this in an unprofessionally level and still trying to learn more about it.
WORKS / MEDIA:
Except my personal works in digital art and graphics, the last 3 years I’ve also worked and collaborated for illustrations and cd covers with musicians and bands like Into The Woods, Black Thoughts Bleeding (Silverwolf Productions), Bob Katsionis ( Century Media, Lion Music), Theodore Ziras (Sleaszy Rider Records), Luna Obscura (Casket Music/Copro Records), Faces Of March, The Fallen Within( Coroner Records), The Enochian, STV Studios, Ethel Hallow, Lady Cathy, The Rain I Bleed, Bloodmind, The Sign, Hand Of God, Nonsense Addiction and many others. My works were published in metal websites and magazines like Kerrang, Metal Hammer, Terrorizer, Rock Hard, Metalzone, MetalPerspective, Rocking.gr, Femme Metal, The Gates of Metal, Blabbermouth, Metal-revolution etc. featured also in Photo Art sites like Deviantart, Photo.net.
On February - March 2009 participated and win the first place on an album artwork contest named “Stomachion” organized by the German metallers Black Thoughts Bleeding. This album released by Silverwolf Productions on March 26, 2010.
On December 2009 participated in the first Metal Art Meeting / Exhibition Show in Greece under the name “The light and the darkness” with digital artists like Andreas Marschall, Seth Siro Anton, derz.oth.design etc.
This year I’m working on my first artwork series called “Fairytale” which is based on fairytales, dolls, strange characters and human feelings.
INSPIRATION:
First of all is music! As a musician for almost 10 years could be impossible to not inspired by the music and usually I listen a lot when I’m working. The unusual thing is that I’m also creative when I live in silence, sounds funny for someone who loves so much the music but to not hear any noise makes me feel so nervous and I’m trying to create images or bring every memory in mind in order to forget my fear and sometimes it works. Part of my influence and inspiration are movies, books, my dreams and nightmares. My works have dark, emotional, fantasy and sometimes surreal elements so everything with those characters is a huge inspiration for me. I like to find words without any clearly meaning or just create them from nowhere and make my own story behind. What can I say, inspiration is a strange thing.
